The finalists for WashingtonExec’s 2023 Pinnacle Awards were announced Sept. 25, and we’ll be highlighting some of them until the event takes place live, in-person Nov. 16.
Next is Marketing Executive of the Year finalist in the Public Company category Lindsay Streeper, who is senior director of marketing and communications at Magellan Federal. Here, she shares her primary focus areas going forward and career advice.
What are your primary focus areas going forward, and why are those so important to the future of the nation?
The COVID-19 pandemic made it abundantly clear that the behavioral health and mental wellbeing of individuals remain a critical societal need. My goal is to help develop wellness and productivity services to meet the needs of a changing federal workforce. For marketing, that means creating unique ways to identify specific pain points and challenges for federal families and innovate solutions.
I find it thrilling to adapt to the ever-changing landscape of how people consume news and information online and in their daily lives, and how outside forces, such as AI, will impact how we make decisions as a society moving forward.
What’s your best career advice for those who want to follow in your footsteps?
Take initiative. I’ve found that organizations and leadership appreciate and reward those who go beyond what is asked. Be curious. Ask questions about why things are done, and solve for things that may not be the original ask but are the underlying need.
Speak up if you’re not feeling challenged; offer to help in areas you’re interested in to grow professionally and capitalize on your individual strengths. In my experience, this approach will not only lead to a more fulfilling career that challenges you and keeps you motivated but ultimately drives a thriving culture and successful business.
