    Sylvia Kilpatrick, SMX

    Sylvia Kilpatrick

Vice President of Human Resources, SMX

Sylvia Kilpatrick’s biggest achievement with her team this year was the creation and launch of a job architecture and career pathing program. Through the organic and inorganic growth the company experienced in recent years, this initiative was identified as a top priority to better support the development of SMX’s most important resource: its people. Kilpatrick ensured an understanding of market research and best practices externally while reviewing SMX’s data to evaluate how employees were aligned, allowing them to design the best program and experience for career growth.

    Why Watch

In 2023 and going forward, Kilpatrick’s team is working hard to make SMX a top place to work. To help with this, she studied employee data to find out what the company is doing well and where it needs to improve. Kilpatrick also worked on getting more useful information from employees at all stages of their time at the company.

Keeping the SMX employees at the center of everything she does, Kilpatrick keeps a quote from Richard Branson top of mind: “Take care of your employees, and they’ll take care of your business.” She’s continually striving to identify new ways to support SMX and help create a positive and inclusive environment for everyone to grow their careers.

“Sylvia’s energy is contagious,” said SMX Chief Administrative Officer Laurell Aiton. “She invigorates and inspires others to make the most impactful decisions, at the right time, that best support sustainable results for the company. She is a highly respected people leader and always demonstrates one of our core values: investing in our people.”
