Vice President of Marketing and External Communications, GDIT
Oliver Nutt’s recent greatest achievements include strengthening the marketing and external communications team’s culture and developing true partnerships across the business at all levels.
The depth of collaboration and the trust his team has earned has never been as strong as it is now, whether that’s partnering with human resources on employment brand, collaborating with digital consulting and technical teams, or executing surgical campaigns to support specific opportunities.
“We’ve found the right balance of repeating what works and the space to be creative and try new things which can be a challenge in some large corporations,” he said. “I love hearing from customers and employees that the GDIT brand stands out and how different we are. This demonstrates that we are doing the right things.”
GDIT is a very different company than it was five years ago, so it’s important its brand reflects this transformation, culture, exceptional people and the inspiring work it does to support customers. A recent employer brand campaign with new creative featuring GDIT employees’ and their individual stories resulted in a more than 30% increase in job applications.
“GDIT Brought A Truck To A Satellite Show” was one of Nutt’s favorite media headlines this year. It was related to the launch of GDIT Raven at a geospatial intelligence conference, a mobile mission command center with AI and other advanced technologies to support decision-making at the edge.
“Technical differentiation is core to the success of GDIT,” said Amy Gilliland, GDIT president. “And, how we tell our story in this regard is critical. Oliver has successfully led GDIT’s brand transformation, elevating our strategic communications and digital presence to new heights. A visible and collaborative leader, he excels in aligning with the business to deliver creative marketing approaches that further our focus on growing our business, attracting new talent, and consistently delivering the best technical solutions for our customers. We’re proud to have him at the helm of our marketing organization.”
GDIT, in partnership with its customers, impacts lives profoundly. Nutt frequently discovers new programs or solutions with significant global impacts, from using AI to aid cancer treatment research and detect fraud, to deploying two of the world’s fastest supercomputers for weather prediction.
“As a team, we continuously challenge ourselves and ask if what we’re doing is going to stand out in the sea of sameness — will it truly make an impact,” Nutt said. “I’m proud that we’ve been able to find the right balance of repeating what works while also leaning into a space to be creative and drive new opportunities that deliver lasting value. As a result, we’ve excelled at building a brand that reflects our culture, our exceptional people and the inspiring work they do to support our customers.”
