Vice President of Governance, Risk & Compliance, ECS

“I’m only as great as my team,” said ECS’ Dr. Shayla Treadwell. With that being said, ECS has given Treadwell additional focus on ensuring diversity, equity and inclusion are part of the company’s cultural story.

“Environmental, Social & Corporate Governance isn’t just a responsibility of ECS, It’s an opportunity for us to be the example in the federal marketplace,” said Steve Hittle, ECS senior vice president and chief information officer. “ECS is honored to have Dr. Shayla Treadwell leading our ESG efforts.”

After receiving employee feedback in early 2022, ECS President John Heneghan conevened a group of company executives and asked they engrain DEI into corporate goals for the year. Working alongside Vice President of Marketing Shab Nassirpour and Vice President of HR Lindsey Reisinger, Treadwell served as ECS’ DEI strategic advisor in building the culture ECS strives to have.

“I am very proud to say that ECS ended 2022 with a robust DEI program to support our Environmental, Sustainability, and Governance commitment,” Treadwell said. ECS’ DEI program rollout included: hosting multiple DEI training across the enterprise; identifying key goals to support DEI efforts; and forming 11 employee resource groups across the enterprise.

    Why Watch

With the rise of environmental, social and governance focus and investments, Treadwell’s team is heavily focused on streamlining these efforts to implement a framework that supports the company. By better understanding where assets can be put into place, ECS can foster an even more socially responsible organization.

From a social perspective, the team will focus on diversity, equity and inclusion, and from an organizational governance perspective, it will strive to maintain a focus on being an ethical business.

“Leadership is not about having all the answers, but being able to create a space where answers can be found,” Treadwell said. “As I have journeyed through supporting ESG efforts at ECS, I don’t have all the answers. Working with others and building a community where we can improve is crucial. By taking our social responsibilities to heart, we support our customers, shareholders and employees better.”
