    Stephen Ambrose

    Chief Climate Scientist, SAIC

SAIC, under Steve Ambrose’s leadership, received a 3-year NASA research grant to study wildfire risk using artificial intuition. This grant will support the application of artificial intuition in analyzing data and identifying areas of complexity that contribute to wildfire risk, benefiting the wildfire and wildland fire community.

    Why Watch

For 2023, Ambrose is focused on increasing the analysis of historical weather and land data available. Doing this through data analytics, geospatial technologies and innovative analysis techniques will help federal partners better understand their data and ultimately make better data-driven decisions.

Ambrose emphasizes the significance of reducing greenhouse gases, conserving energy and exploring alternative energy sources such as solar, wind and nuclear power. However, he also stresses the importance of building resilience to disasters and adapting to the effects of rising sea levels, higher temperatures and limited natural resources. With the global human population continuously growing, there is a pressing need to intensify efforts in these areas.

“Steve delivers a unique and powerful perspective on climate change and enables SAIC to ensure climate risks are addressed with innovative technology solutions,” said Mike Mazzella, senior vice president at SAIC.
