Ann Dunkin
Chief Information Officer, Energy Department
As CIO of the Energy Department, Ann Dunkin’s biggest recent achievement was convening cybersecurity researchers from across the department to discuss and share their work to improve resilience against cybersecurity threats.
As noted by participants, it is rare that vast knowledge across Energy is brought together in one place.
“It was incredibly satisfying to see the connections being made at the event,” Dunkin said.
Why Watch
In 2023, Dunkin’s team is heavily focused on building relationships across the department, interagency, the private sector and international partners. They’re doing this from a cyber perspective to enhance the collective defense and from an innovation perspective, to leverage the learnings of others and accelerate the department’s progress in modernizing and serving the public.
“DOE is Cabinet-level department and is a large, diverse, highly federated organization with an extremely broad mission set that requires numerous unique informational technology and cyber security solutions,” said Deputy Secretary of Energy David Turk. “This mission includes securing leadership in energy technologies, enhancing nuclear security, and maintaining vibrant efforts in science and technology as a cornerstone of economic prosperity.”
“Since her arrival at DOE, CIO Dunkin has demonstrated outstanding excellence in technology innovation, leadership, and collaboration not only across the Department, but also the Federal Government, and the community.”
