Bob Barr, former assistant commissioner at the Internal Revenue Service, has joined CGI Federal as a vice president in the civilian business unit.
Barr is an accounting and digital transformation expert who will extend CGI Federal’s efforts in support of the Treasury account team dedicated to the IRS’s operation to drive the time-sensitive roadmap to IT modernization.
“We are thrilled to welcome Bob to the CGI Federal team,” said Alisa Bearfield, CGI Federal’s senior vice president and head of the civilian business unit.
“Bob brings tangible business solutions to federal customers, such as the IRS, to deliver strategy and forward-thinking solutions that maximize federal investments for mission critical modernizations,” Bearfield said.
Barr is the founding president of the trade association Council for Electronic Revenue Communication Advancement. He chaired the government subcommittee of the American National Standards Institute Accredited Standards Committee X12G, leading efforts on the foundation of electronic data interchange standards for tax returns and electronic payments.
“I look forward to fully capturing the inventiveness and agility within CGI Federal to support agencies’ missions of making tax compliance easier,” Barr said. “Building on our decades of digital transformation experience, we are well positioned to move quickly and to bring best of breed practices to deliver on robust digital citizen experiences.”
