The finalists for WashingtonExec’s Chief Officer Awards were announced March 17, and we’ll be highlighting some of them until the event takes place live, in-person May 10.

Next is Chief Marketing Officer finalist in the Private Company category Sarah Kim, chief marketing officer of Iron Bow. Here, she talks career turning points, shaping the next generation of industry leaders and more.

What has made you successful in your current role?

The people around me. I was empowered day one at Iron Bow to infuse best practices in demand generation and marketing operations to drive growth for our organization. I’m surrounded by incredibly intelligent and kind people who share the same growth mindset and passion for putting our customers first, and that’s what’s driving success for all of us.

What was a turning point or inflection point in your career?

Stepping into this role as CMO at Iron Bow Technologies changed the trajectory of my career to date. The reputation of our brand and exposure to best of breed technology has super charged my ability to make an impact on our business and in the industry.

How do you help shape the next generation of industry leaders?

I do my best to never forget what it was like in the beginning. Reminding myself of the challenges and hardships of being the lowest person on the ladder has helped me stay humble and appreciative of everything I’ve worked for and has served as my north star to be the kind of leader I’ve always wanted to have.
