Corporate Vice President & Chief Human Resources Officer, Northrop Grumman

Ann Addison has fueled new growth opportunities and momentum for Northrop Grumman. Relying on decades of human resources expertise, in 2021 she reengineered core HR practices and processes and implemented a new digital platform to transform the employee experience.

“Our people and culture are our differentiators,” she said. “Their passion for the mission, empathy for each other and the team, and drive to perform at their very best, is what makes Northrop Grumman one of the best companies to work for.”

With her leadership, state-of-art analytics, employee listening practices and robust HR metrics, the HR team introduced modern work models and updated leadership behaviors. It introduced tools like Career Hub, a resource for leaders, employees and the company to work together to guide professional development.

    Why Watch

In a tight market for talent, Addison has devised a new HR competency model to build future core skills.

“The difference between good HR professionals and great HR professionals is business acumen,” she said. “HR professionals need to be business leaders first.”

Her team is future focused on the employee — such as offering flexibility, personalizing the employee experience and helping them reach career aspirations. She is a Washington region lead for One Ten and advocates for skills-based hiring and development. The company has consistently been hiring over 10,000 people a year.
