Brad Stone
CIO & Senior Vice President, Booz Allen Hamilton
Just a year into the CIO role, Brad Stone has accelerated Booz Allen’s development into an ever more data-driven organization, with broad impact and measurable progress already.
Simpler, more data-rich user experiences helped business decision-makers work more productively. New tools and infrastructure accelerated the delivery of client solutions. Improved predictive analytics sharpened planning, strategy and talent forecasting.
Why Watch
“Booz Allen under our VoLT (velocity, leadership, technology) growth strategy has been rapidly investing in innovation,” Stone said. “The organization needs to integrate new capabilities smartly and reliably into the enterprise, and fast.”
So, Booz Allen is implementing standardized, repeatable processes that enable the firm to quickly achieve outcomes and scale.
“We’re trusted by the government to do important work, and they trust us to have a resilient enterprise,” he said. “Agility is not always enough, and it does not always equal fast. We rationalized last year so we can simplify this year and transform in the future.”
To support an ambitious growth strategy like VoLT, the CIO needs to meet business needs and be part of the innovation process itself.
“That’s why Brad and I work together to make Booz Allen ‘Client Zero’ for new solutions,” said Booz Allen Chief Technology Officer Susan Penfield. “We test for availability and resilience. Brad has championed a process that feeds the outcomes of that internal testing back into an integrated innovation ecosystem, using data to prove our differentiation with talent and in the marketplace.”
