    Patricia Davis-Muffett, Google

    Patricia Davis-Muffett

Director, Global Public Sector Marketing, Google

When Tricia Davis-Muffett accepted her new role leading global public sector marketing for Google Cloud in March 2020, she never imagined she wouldn’t meet her team in person for over 18 months. In fact, maintaining a strong sense of community on her global team while achieving big things is what she’s proudest of over the last two years.

“I have always prided myself on building strong, caring teams,” she said. “You spend so much time at work. It’s important to feel not just accomplishment in your work, but also belonging.”

Google Cloud is a relatively new entrant in the public sector market, and Davis-Muffett and her team are laser-focused on showcasing the great work public sector customers are achieving using Google Cloud. This includes work by state and local governments to get vaccines out and accelerating public benefit distributions like unemployment insurance; focus by higher-education institutions on improving student success; and last summer, they launched new zero trust solutions to help federal agencies comply with President Joe Biden’s cybersecurity executive order.

To showcase this, Davis-Muffett’s team launched a new Government and Education Summit, which attracted more than 25,000 attendees in November, launched a public sector-focused blog and helped launch a public sector customer community.

    Why Watch

For 2022, Davis-Muffett is excited about new solutions coming for public sector customers; the next class of research innovators; working closely with more public sector partners; and helping Lynn Martin, new vice president for public sector, make even more progress with public sector customers ready to innovate.

“I was so happy to find Tricia here as part of my team,” Martin said. “She’s among the very best marketers in this space and we are lucky to have her.”
