Buchanan & Edwards’ Sean Spann Receives WashingtonExec’s Longevity Award

Sean Spann with a Longevity Award.

WashingtonExec has awarded Buchanan & Edwards Senior Vice President of Technology Solutions Sean Spann with the Longevity Award, which recognizes executives who have made outstanding contributions to their companies throughout the years.

Spann celebrated his 20th year with BE in August. When he joined, BE had fewer than 20 people on staff –today, the company has nearly 500.

What initially drew him to BE was the opportunity to work with growth-focused and like-minded leaders over the years. That, “paired with the support you get from a family-run company like BE, allows me to keep growing professionally, which is extremely important to me,” Spann said. He is also passionate about BE’s mission and the constantly shifting challenges and flexibility required to work in this industry.

Yet the best part about working at BE, Spann said, is being able to recognize that change is constant and needed for growth.

“Over the past 20 years, I’ve been able to hold many different roles, support a variety of initiatives and help BE win key opportunities at existing customers and new accounts,” he said. “There are always new opportunities on the horizon, and it never gets boring!”

Throughout the years, Spann’s biggest contributions to BE have been functional and technical management. He wears many hats on a regular basis depending on what’s needed at the time, like executive, manager or solutions architect. He’s also directly supported multiple clients, including the FBI and the State Department.

He’s also been able to share his institutional knowledge with colleagues via BE’s internal Nexus application, a proprietary past performance database that contains years’ worth of client case studies, solution implementation summaries and lessons learned.

“I also take every opportunity to engage on new growth opportunities and share my knowledge by working alongside a strong team and partners,” Spann said.

In a time when job hopping happens more than ever and phrases like “quiet quitting” have become popular, the Longevity Award honors an executive’s long-standing commitments to one company. This award recognizes their contributions to organizational growth, culture, mentorship, and knowledge sharing; plus, the journey of evolving and growing with an organization’s success.

WashingtonExec is honored to present this award to Spann to celebrate his decades of career excellence.

    Congratulations, Sean!
