Top HR Execs to Watch in 2022: Maximus’ Michelle Link

Michelle Link

Chief Human Resources Officer, Maximus

Michelle Link’s biggest recent achievement was introducing Maximus’ new Global Core values. They’re at a pivotal moment in the company’s journey, and it was time to unite everyone — globally — to work every day in concert guided by the same values.

“It’s been a real labor of love for me and our team,” Link said.

Link and her team spent the good part of last year working across the company to get at the core of who Maximus is and who Maximus wants to be. Maximus’ new values represent its current beliefs and its aspirations. The six new core values are: respect, compassion, innovation, accountability, collaboration and customer focus.

“Michelle faced the remarkable challenge of joining us immediately preceding the pandemic and — as a people-based company — she and her team became the focal point of our response to keep employees safe, provide income continuity, and migrate to a hybrid work model,” said Bruce Caswell, Maximus president and CEO.

“She developed deep and trusted relationships with the executive team that promoted collaboration and agility in our response,” he continued. “More recently, as acquisitions have changed the complexion of the company, her work to establish and articulate our core values — recently announced through a leadership summit — evidenced our commitment to employee engagement and inclusion and her personal dedication to our culture. I’m proud to have Michelle as a key member of our leadership team.”

Why Watch

In 2022, Link and her team are heavily focused on kicking off a 3-5-year cross-organizational strategic workforce planning effort to convert thinking from “people with jobs” to “people with skills.”

They are focused on preparing the workforce for the future, identifying deficiencies and how to best align people across silos and programs. They are also taking a close look at the skills Maximus needs to meet customer needs — now and in the future — and to combine that effort along with developing employees’ career and work paths.
