Laura Giangiuli
Senior Vice President & Chief Human Resources Officer, CALIBRE Systems
Laura Giangiuli’s biggest recent achievement was getting involved as a mentor and instructor with the TechSet VA Program. This opportunity allowed her to work closely with the dean of Marymount’s College of Business, Innovation, Leadership and Technology; regional technology and thought leaders; as well as directly with the students to help prepare them for a career in technology after graduation.
The program focuses on work readiness, career preparation and mentorship and allows Giangiuli to apply her HR experiences and approaches she learned from her graduate studies at Cornell University.
“CALIBRE and all of our employee-owners benefit from all the hard work and people engagement programs generated by our CHRO,” said Richard Pineda, CALIBRE president and CEO. “Laura’s sterling leadership, passion and approach surrounding key human resource initiatives are instrumental to CALIBRE’s growth trajectory. After all, our success only follows as our employees succeed, grow and thrive.”
Why Watch
In 2022, Giangiuli’s team is focused on employee engagement, morale and company culture. Earlier this year, the team began connecting with the newest employees through 90-day new-hire check-ins with Giangiuli or the HR director. This is a quick, unscripted opportunity for new employees to provide feedback directly to the HR leaders about everything from onboarding to meeting their team and CALIBRE leadership.
Giangiuli and her team are also leveraging an employee survey platform to pulse employees throughout the year to solicit real-time feedback on the employee experience and hot topics such as return to the office and DEI initiatives.
Giangiuli and her team also recognized that many of CALIBRE Systems’ employees and supervisors had no experience working or supervising in a remote and dispersed environment. So, they worked with the company’s learning management platform to create two “learning journeys” — one for employees and one for supervisors.
Each learning journey is specifically curated to provide hands-on learning through courses, thought leader talks, suggested readings and additional resources to give employees and supervisors the tools to successfully work and thrive in a remote environment.
