CIO & Senior Vice President, Leidos

As vice president and director of Leidos’ Digital Modernization Accelerator, Derrick Pledger drove the development of solutions currently helping the Army modernize, by putting maximum capabilities in the hands of the warfighter.

To do so, Leidos is leveraging cloud, artificial intelligence and machine learning and rapid software delivery to maintain decision superiority over U.S. adversaries.

“Derrick brings great depth and breadth to the CIO role with experience across the full lifecycle of information technology from the development of differentiated technologies and solutions to leading day-to-day IT service delivery operations,” said Jim Carlini, Leidos chief technology officer.

    Why Watch

Leidos manages some of the largest and most complex networks for the U.S. government. Its teams constantly look for areas to drive innovation and new capabilities into these environments to help customers respond to emerging threats and evolving mission requirements.

“When it comes to truly modernized, secure systems that operate at speed and scale, we must pull together both established and emerging capabilities to keep agencies on the leading of edge of modernization,” Pledger said. “Amid escalating cyber threats and hybrid IT environments with both on-premise and edge computing devices – everything from laptops to 5G-enabled smart sensors – maintaining a technology edge is the only way to stay ahead.”
