    Richard Smith

    Vice President, Homeland Security, ManTech

In January 2021, Richard Smith was selected as ManTech’s new vice president and division manager of the Homeland Security Division. He very quickly opened the aperture of solutions ManTech provides to include the full range of data analytics, cyber and mission and enterprise IT for a diverse set of customers across DHS.

In fiscal year 2021, that included building a robust sales pipeline while streamlining delivery, overseeing the transition of two large contract wins and continuously increasing award fee and CPAR scores while maintaining high levels of employee loyalty and commitment to the mission.

“Richard Smith provides our customers with a flexible set of services that can be deployed and delivered quickly,” said Stephen Deitz, executive vice president and general manager of ManTech’s federal civilian sector. “He ensures that ManTech employees have the best tools and technologies to deliver excellence in support of the DHS customer.”

Prior to Smith’s selection as ManTech vice president, he served both industry and government — including leadership roles at the Transportation Security Administration and in the U.S. Navy.

    Why Watch

As Smith enters his second full year at the helm of the DHS division for ManTech, his team plans to continue to pursue large, enduring contracts with a focus on cyber, data analytics and cloud services. His division will also continue to advance delivery by retaining key talent and bringing on strategic hires to support the important DHS mission.

“Our people and the mission are the most important parts of any organization serving national security customers, DHS included,” Smith said. “Finding, keeping and growing technology leaders is paramount to our future success and to supporting the unique DHS mission.”
