Robert Carey

President, Cloudera Government Solutions

Robert Carey’s biggest achievement has been his 39 years of service to the nation as a civilian, naval officer and now as a member of industry serving the government’s mission.

“One of my recent achievements was to meet with several federal CIOs and communicate the value of their data as a strategic asset and see the ‘light bulbs’ go off . . . in that they get it and understand it’s an opportunity to further their mission and provide greater insights to decision making in their agencies,” he said.

Scott Aronson, Cloudera chief operating officer, noted Carey and his team’s success.

“Rob and his team have done a great job of providing a focus for their government customers that supports the acceleration of their digital transformation using Cloudera,” Aronson said.

Why Watch

In 2022, Carey and his team are heavily focused on data movement and implementation of private cloud computing. Moreover, they are focused on the first simple step to locate and move (data flow and streaming) data, followed by data engineering and data warehousing and lastly, analytics.

“We believe that we can support government customers to use low-code to simplify and enable their data acquisition, transformation and delivery to a place (data lake or warehouse) whereby the customer can accelerate their mission by increasing the accuracy of analytics and data science initiatives,” Carey said.
