    Victor Gavin

Head, Federal Technology Vision & Business Development, Amazon Web Services

In 2020, Victor Gavin stood up the Defense Department Strategic Development Team at AWS, which focuses on assisting DOD customers in their cloud journey.

In 2022, his team continues to focus on supporting the DOD mission space and diving deeper into cyber operations. As cyber intrusions continue to impact world events, the team is assisting DOD in securing its networks and applications, while also providing actionable insights and ensuring U.S. warfighters have continuous access to the capabilities they need, regardless of location or situation.

“Through Victor’s leadership, we’ve been able to enhance our support for the DOD mission and deliver leading cloud services to a variety of national security programs,” said Cedric George, director of DOD strategic business development for AWS. “This is helping raise the bar in critical areas like cybersecurity, and is more important than ever given the rapidly evolving threat landscape.”

    Why Watch

Artificial Intelligence and machine learning will continue to be major technology contributors to the cyber mission area given the sheer amount of data DOD collects. AI and machine learning can enable DOD and many of its partners to derive better insights and improve their ability to defend the nation’s critical infrastructure.

“As defense technologies and capabilities continue to evolve at a rapid pace cloud technologies can help the DOD to rapidly adopt those changes to secure our nation’s strategic advantage,” Gavin said. “My team and I are focused on helping our defense customers understand how the cloud can enable them to achieve their missions faster, speed up innovation, and enhance their security posture.”
