Terry W. Phillips

Chief Security Officer, Leidos

After a dynamic career protecting the Air Force and Space Force, Terry Phillips joined Leidos as chief security officer in January 2022.

His arrival could not have happened at a better time. His experience in Europe and the Middle East allows Leidos to aptly assess operational risk in high-threat and austere locations. Additionally, his experience leading enterprise security strategies for special access programs provides Leidos with unique perspectives to offer innovative security solutions across multiple business groups.

“Terry has managed some of the Department of Defense’s most sensitive capabilities, technologies and operations, and we’re thrilled to welcome him to Leidos,” said Vicki Schmanske, Leidos executive vice president of corporate operations. “His decades of experience will be instrumental as we look to bolster our corporate global security strategy.”

Why Watch

Phillips said he is focused on refining Leidos’ security environment to encourage innovation aimed at rapidly solving hard problems to make the world safer, healthier and more efficient.

“Our national security depends on industry’s ability to deliver uncompromised capabilities at speed and scale,” he said. “Success depends on strong partnerships across industry and with government to focus on high-value security practices that protect and facilitate innovation.”

This collaborative nature makes Phillips a CSO to watch. His unique ability to bring diverse groups together to solve hard problems in new ways is key to accelerating innovation that enhances national security.
