    Jaime Orlando, HII

    Jaime Orlando

Senior Vice President of Communications, Technical Solutions Division, Huntington Ingalls Industries

Integrating a newly acquired company is never a small feat. So, when Jaime Orlando unified communications teams from Huntington Ingalls Industries and newly acquired Alion last fall, there was an overwhelming sense of achievement.

“Working alongside some of the most talented communications professionals in our industry is an honor and privilege,” she said. “Everything we accomplish is a collaborative, team effort.”

In less than a month, Orlando’s team creatively and effectively connected every new and existing employee in Alion’s division — more than 7,000 around the world — to the HII brand and helped navigate the way forward. And Orlando’s efforts during the worst of the pandemic built employee trust and drove attrition down below industry averages, added Andy Green, HII executive vice president and president of HII’s Technical Solutions Division.

“Jaime has done an incredible job of developing a sophisticated, comprehensive and modern communications strategy for our division while assembling a first-class team to get it done,” Green said. “Her efforts to drive strong communications during the integration of multiple acquisitions have earned her praise from both legacy and new team members alike.”

    Why Watch

Orlando’s team launched an internal change management communications campaign called “Beyond 2022” to support continued betterment and improve engagement with an inspirational vision and multichannel targeted strategic communications to help bring clarity of expectations and build excitement across the business.

Her team is also on the eve of launching a brand refresh where all audiences will begin to see and experience a modernized visual approach to HII’s brand identity. The goal is to define the HII brand more expansively — beyond shipbuilding — and reflect the enterprise the company is today: a global engineering and defense technologies provider. Leaders say it’s all part of a larger effort to help bridge connections across various audiences that, in the end, support the nation’s freedom and security.
