Top 35 Execs to Watch in 2022: Maxar’s Tony Frazier

    Tony Frazier

Executive Vice President & General Manager, Public Sector, Maxar Earth Intelligence

Now in his second decade of leadership at Maxar, Tony Frazier drove significant advancements to how Earth intelligence was applied to critical national security missions in 2021.

Last summer, Maxar provided direct support for the U.S. drawdown and evacuation missions in Afghanistan. Hundreds of high-resolution Maxar satellite images of Afghanistan were accessed by a wide variety of defense, intelligence and humanitarian organizations.

And through Army’s One World Terrain program, Maxar delivered a high-resolution 3D model of Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul to support the 82nd Airborne Division with real-time analysis and planning.

As part of the Army’s Scarlet Dragon exercises in October, Maxar helped demonstrate automated object detection in commercial satellite imagery downlinked directly to the theater, reducing the typical sensor-to-shooter timeline from hours to minutes. This marks the first time this long-held Army goal was realized and paves the way for the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning to remotely sensed data, which is critical to achieving the Defense Department’s JADC2 objectives.

    Why Watch

This year, Maxar plans to launch its next-generation WorldView Legion satellites, which will drive vastly improved global revisit rates and expanded 30 cm-class imagery collection capacity.

“WorldView Legion will enhance Maxar’s ability to monitor change across the planet and accelerate our ability to map the globe in 3D and deliver AI-powered insights on mission-relevant timelines,” Frazier said.
