Randy Hurst
Vice President, Global Supply Chain Management, PAE
Randy Hurst has reshaped PAE National Security Solutions Business Unit Global Supply Chain Organization to integrate supply chain activities from the two recent acquisitions of CENTRA Technology and its subsidiaries and Metis Solutions.
These acquisitions came to PAE without procurement policies and procedures or dedicated GSCM staff, and Hurst gained the buy-in and trust of the executives of those organizations to show process adoption is not in direct conflict with program performance and actually enhances it through repeatable disciplines that reduce risk and drive best value.
“Additionally, talent acquisition has been key to this achievement,” Hurst said. “In this difficult job market for employers, I was able to increase my team by 40%, attracting difference makers that will take our organizational performance to the next level.”
Why Watch
Hurst said while trusting the process may sound cliché, it is a key tenet in supply chain operations.
“Not that ‘the process’ should rule the day or that improvement, evolution and efficiencies are to be sidelined,” he said. “It is that if supply chain professionals and stakeholders alike know and follow the process, blocking and tackling items do not become a distraction. This frees up the supply chain organization to innovate, prepare for industry volatility and risk, and focus on value-added activities that move the needle.”
In 2022, Hurst will focus on harmonizing the newly expanded team and ensuring it’s delivering value to internal stakeholders and customers. He’ll also be preparing for the integration with Amentum.
“Randy has proven the value of personal engagement and good old fashioned leading by example all throughout the change management process of a challenging, multi-company acquisition and integration,” said Christine Ottobre, vice president of global supply chain management at PAE. “He is the kind of leader people want to follow.”
