Oscar Montes
CEO, Magellan Federal
As a veteran naval officer and fighter pilot, Oscar Montes has seen first-hand the challenges that face families in the military and other high-stress occupations. Coupled with his years of experience bringing technical innovations to large-scale government programs, Montes has a firm grasp on what federal clients need to support the behavioral health and resilience of their members.
Montes’ strong leadership and strategic focus were critical to the recent win of the Military Family Life Counseling IV contract, solidifying Magellan Federal as a leading behavioral health provider in the federal market.
Delivering these high-stakes services to the government takes a nuanced ingenuity, a delicate balance that Montes understands and appreciates.
“I’m especially proud of our work on population health and suicide prevention in the federal space — identifying high-risk members for additional care and interventions,” Montes said.
Why Watch
Montes recently brought new digital clinical capabilities to the company’s Employee Assistance Programs —advancing offerings for hundreds of thousands of participants across federal agencies and the DOD.
“The ability for employers to offer EAP services is more critical than ever,” Montes said. “Coronavirus has created a secondary mental health pandemic, which has accelerated the need for services and technologies that buttress the mental health and resilience of our nation’s military and civil servants. Addressing those needs is our number-one focus.”
Magellan is also launching a new well-being and resilience commercial product based on Magellan Federal’s many years of experience delivering human performance training to the Army.
“We are doing such great work in the human performance space, we wanted to offer that to as many populations as possible,” he said.
For 2022 and beyond, Montes will focus on fueling business growth by proactive problem solving, innovative thinking, and maintaining high customer satisfaction.
