Phoebe L. Yang
General Manager, Healthcare, Amazon Web Services
Under Phoebe Yang’s leadership, AWS has supported many of the nation’s most innovative and impactful health systems at the frontlines of the pandemic. She and her team have helped providers design solutions to tackle COVID-19, adopt new technology to solve the challenge of social distancing and migrate to the cloud to build advanced clinical capabilities impossible to build with legacy IT.
With help from AWS, MedStar Health quickly scaled telehealth solutions by launching two virtual contact centers powered for providers and patients in less than a week. The centers are powered by machine learning and significantly increase access to care while reducing clinician pandemic burnout. At Houston Methodist, she and her team spearheaded a collaboration to improve clinical efficiency and alleviate nursing and physician burnout by using hands-free, voice-activated technology and real-time data capture in their operating and exam rooms.
“We are at a pivotal moment when the measure of our leadership will be defined by whether we rise to the challenge to multiply and accelerate the good we have done in these most difficult times,” Yang said. “With the help of advanced technologies like the cloud, we can — and must — lift the ships of progress in health and health care for the enduring benefit of all humanity.”
