Backup-solutions provider Veeam Software has launched a federally focused subsidiary, Veeam Government Solutions, Inc.
With over 1,200 government customers, VGS focuses on the backup and protection of mission critical data for the Defense Department, civilian agencies, Native American tribes, the intelligence community and federal system integrators.
Always protected and available data is what keeps the federal government functioning, said Earl Matthews, VGS president.
“We founded VGS to be even more hyper-focused on the highest level of security and nimbler in support of federal agency needs,” he said. “We’re committed to continually finding better ways to serve the government, solve its biggest data challenges, and protect the information that is a strategic asset for everything government organizations do.”
Headquartered in Washington, D.C., and 100% U.S.-owned and managed, VGS provides data protection software solutions independently verified and validated by U.S. federal government-trusted, U.S.-based third-party agencies.
VGS’ critical security and IT certifications include U.S. Navy DADMS, NIST – 1800-11 and SOCOM Approved Products List, Section 508.
Veeam can clearly differentiate itself from competitors inside the Beltway, said Gil Vega, Veeam chief information security officer.
“We’ve got over 400,000 commercial customers, we’ve got a huge install base globally,” he told WashingtonExec. “We’re No. 1 in Europe, we’re gaining ground in the U.S. marketplace. And frankly, we’re the No. 1 solution for ransomware, which seems to be on everyone’s mind today.”
Veeam’s scalable, easy-to-use solution provides for instant backup and recovery, as well as cloud mobility, Vega said, which is especially helpful as federal agencies work toward a cloud-first strategy.
“With our recent acquisition of Kasten last year, we are able to provide backup and recovery services for containers and Kubernetes,” he added. “So I think there’s a lot of really interesting capabilities that our commercial customers love that our government customers will love even more.”
