Jim Winner, chief legal officer and general counsel at Peraton, has won WashingtonExec’s 2021 Chief Officer Award for Private & Public Company Chief Legal Counsel.
In its second year, the Chief Officer Awards luncheon was held May 27 as a virtual live-streamed program to recognize C-suite executives in both industry and government for their innovation, expertise, impact and thought leadership.
As CLO and general counsel, Winner oversees Peraton’s legal, compliance, contracts and risk management functions. Prior to joining Peraton, he was CLO, general counsel and secretary at GardaWorld Federal Services, and served as corporate director and assistant general counsel at Northrop Grumman.
Earlier in his career, Winner held legal, contracts and procurement executive leadership roles at Exelis and ITT Corp.
Before joining industry, Winner served as an Air Force judge advocate and systems acquisition officer. He began his active-duty career at the Space and Missile Systems Center as a systems acquisition officer, supporting major U.S. government satellite and space launch programs.
Winner is a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy and Loyola Law School, Los Angeles. He is a board member of the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce.
