Deloitte & Touche LLP has named Audit and Assurance Managing Director Krista Smith as Emerging Growth Company practice leader for Greater Washington.

In her new role, Smith will leverage more than 28 years of experience as she serves entrepreneurial companies that are expanding their business models and operations while navigating issues around regulations, capital and financial reporting.

Smith said she is grateful for the opportunity.

“Our region is one of the world’s premier hubs for start-up and fast-growth companies across multiple industries, including technology, media and telecommunications; life sciences; and financial services,” Smith said. “I look forward to engaging this sector with Deloitte’s experiences, insights and industry leaders.”

Smith has served numerous Emerging Growth Company clients and has been involved in Deloitte’s Greater Washington Technology Venture Center and Technology Fast 500 program. She also has been active in MAVA, Mindshare and the Northern Virginia Technology Council.

Allison Dyer, audit and assurance partner and group partner-in-charge, said Smith’s technical skills, local market experience and passion for working with entrepreneurial companies will serve her well as Deloitte enhances its Greater Washington presence.

“Krista is a dynamic and accomplished leader and I look forward to her continued success, especially in this new role,” Dyer said.
