Amyx, Inc. President and CEO Satya Akula is retiring after 9 years and will be succeeded by Chief Operating Officer Bill Schaefer, who will step into that role in December.

One of the original investors that purchased Amyx, Inc. in 2008, Akula became president and CEO in 2011. Under his leadership, the company said it increased revenue with a 30% average year-over-year growth rate and expanded the key customer base include the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, U.S. Transportation Command, the Defense Health Agency, the Securities and Exchange Commission, U.S. Army and the departments of Energy and Homeland Security.

Services provided at Amyx also expanded under Akula’s leadership, including the addition of cybersecurity, cloud, agile software development, acquisition support and financial support services.

Amyx also gained certifications to include CMMI Level III, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 27001, and was included in The Washington Post’s “Top Workplaces” list twice under Akula’s leadership.

In thanking Akula for his contributions, Amyx Chairman Scott Amey pointed to the outgoing chief executive’s leadership.

“I want to thank Satya for his tremendous contribution to Amyx’s success,” Amey said. “Amyx’s growth under his leadership has been nothing short of phenomenal. His effective leadership helped grow Amyx in all aspects – the highest level of customer satisfaction, efficient back-office functions, many quality certifications, and business expansion into every State and Territory within the U.S.”

Akula will remain a stockholder in the company.
