As a leader within Zscaler, Andrew Schnabel is working to ensure federal agencies can take advantage of secure modern cloud technology to empower teams, meet their mission and deliver exceptional citizen service. The Zscaler team supports federal, state and local government customers across the country as they made rapid shifts to mass telework.
In 2020, Schnabel and team achieved a Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program High authorization, making their Zscaler Private Access solution the first and only zero trust remote access solution to be FedRAMP High Baseline JAB authorized.
Zero trust solutions are transformational, as agencies shift to complex, cloud-based IT environments, the attack surface increases, user experience is often degraded, and IT teams too often don’t have the visibility and control needed.
A zero trust model means trust must be earned and continually reassessed, focusing on protecting users and internal applications versus the network perimeter. Defense agencies have been testing zero trust capabilities, such as Zscaler, to provide alternatives to virtual private networks ridden with vulnerabilities.
The Department of Homeland Security’s Trusted Internet Connections 3.0 Interim Telework Guidance has also been key this year, enabling Zscaler to deliver a modern architecture for federal customers, with a direct-to-cloud connection.
