With the government in the midst of a vast shift to telework, the Defense Information Systems Agency has selected its main industry partner for an internet security program.
As reported in Washington Technology, DISA has chosen By Light Professional IT Services for a potential 5-year, $198.9 million production Other Transaction Authority contract. The agency had previously awarded two prototype agreements through the Cloud Based Internet Isolation program.
By Light is to perform the work over an initial base year, with up to four option years afterward. DISA said this is the first production OTA awarded to an industry partner. An initial pilot has scaled roughly 327% since social distancing efforts took hold in mid-March.
Under the OTA, By Light is to support the agency’s efforts to put space between enterprise networks and the internet, with cybersecurity solutions in a cloud environment hosting nonessential internet browsing sessions. The aim is to reduce risk to the Defense Department’s information networks and to relieve congestion at internet access points, which have multiplied during the pandemic.
