The Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Inspector General has chosen AT&T to transform and modernize its network. The upgrades will provide wireless access to FirstNet, the nationwide, wireless first responders communications platform.

AT&T will deliver to HHS OIG a fully managed Software Defined Wide Area Network  service, allowing improved visibility into routing, switching and other networking infrastructure. The modernized service will support application-based routing along with the ability to centrally control and update network policies across OIG operations, for more cost-effective network operations.

In addition, AT&T will help OIG personnel complete of tasks more efficiently via highly secure and available broadband connectivity and cloud access technologies. These include AT&T’s ethernet, virtual private networking, and broadband internet services.

The contract includes support for FirstNet. The HHS OIG solution includes wireless access FirstNet’s dedicated network, which is designed to bring together public safety officials and law enforcement on a physically separate, dedicated core network. FirstNet features include enhanced security, priority and preemption for first responders, with no speed limitations anywhere in the country.
