Security company IDEMIA has appointed Dan Kent to its newly created role of chief technology officer as well as senior vice president and member of the executive committee for the identity and security business in North America.

Kent will also lead IDEMIA’s new group focused on product management, IT, information and cybersecurity, and engineering. As part of his new role, Kent will be tasked with leading strategic thinking about how changes in technology impact the market and customers, and ensuring product roadmaps are aligned to meet customers’ needs.

Kent has 28 years of experience in IT and public sector consulting, as a systems engineer and technology executive. He also spent time working at the federal, state and local government level, and in the education market.

Prior to joining IDEMIA, Kent was the U.S. public sector CTO and architecture lead at Cisco Systems, and served as the senior director of systems engineering for Cisco Public Sector.

Kent said he’s excited to lead IDEMIA’s new IT group.

“IDEMIA’s leadership role in developing technology for identity and security serve as a great foundation for a rapidly changing digital landscape,” he said.

Ed Casey, CEO of identity and security for IDEMIA, said Kent’s experience in bringing technology solutions to customer environments and his collaborative leadership style will complement IDEMIA’s executive team.

“Dan is a recognized innovator and a change agent who has had a significant impact in driving change in the public sector regarding topics, which include: cloud, cybersecurity and the Internet of Things,” Casey added. “We are confident Dan will make an immediate contribution to our customers and all of IDEMIA.”
