Private equity firm GTCR has hired Melissa Mounce, formerly of Baird Capital, as managing director of leadership talent.

In her new role, she will work with investment professionals across the firm to drive key components of the company’s overall investment strategy. She will focus on the identification and recruitment of Leaders Strategy CEOs and management teams as well as data-driven executive assessment and portfolio company leadership support.

As part of GTCR’s overall investment strategy, Leaders Strategy is the company’s unique approach to finding and partnering with management leaders to help identify, acquire and build market-leading companies. GTCR’s strategy is aimed in part at maintaining a robust pipeline of talented leadership partners in the industries in which the firm invests.

“GTCR was founded on the core belief that exceptional leaders create market-leading companies, and the firm’s level of talent and track record exemplify the success of this strategy,” Mounce said. “I am thrilled to work with the GTCR team to continue to evolve and scale this investment approach.”

Mounce frequently speaks on managing talent in the workplace. Her ideas have appeared in industry white papers, media interviews and publications including The Wall Street Journal.

She holds an undergraduate degree in international business from Illinois State University and an MBA from Northern Illinois University.

Managing Director Craig Bondy said he is pleased to have Mounce join GTCR.

“With her unique skill set and expertise, we expect her to have an immediate impact and be a great addition to the firm,” Bondy said.

At Baird Capital, Mounce was principal of human capital. Earlier in her career, she worked in operational, talent consulting and professional recruiting roles at companies that include Motorola, E&Y, Capgemini, PNC Bank, Aon and Abbott.
