Deloitte Consulting has named former U.S. Air Force surgeon general Dr. Mark Ediger a specialist executive for the consultancy’s federal health business.
In his new role, Ediger will focus on medical supply chain innovation, quality of care, patient safety, health data management and the future of health services across government, the company said.
Ediger’s experience in the military and in family practice makes him a “tremendous” resource to Deloitte’s clients, said Kevin Brault, principal at Deloitte & Touche LLP and federal health sector leader.
“Through his background stretching across the health field – from the implementation of the Patient Centered Medical Home and electronic health records to combat operations and disaster response – Mark has experienced the health ecosystem from a variety of perspectives,” Brault said.
Ediger spent two decades in the military, with his most recent roles as deputy surgeon general and the surgeon general of the Air Force.
Ediger has a bachelor’s degree and a medical degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and a master of public health degree from the University of Texas.
