CALIBRE Systems, Inc. announced Wednesday it has acquired government IT services company Spear Inc., which will operate as a subsidiary of CALIBRE.

Spear co-founder and CEO Richard Pineda, who will be president of both businesses, highlighted how the deal will lead to serving customers better.

“The collaboration of our solutions, technologies and staff will significantly enhance our ability to serve our clients and build a platform for continued success and growth,” he said.

CALIBRE President and CEO Joe Martore highlighted the importance of the deal.

“This acquisition is a strategic combination of capabilities,” he said. “With SPEAR, CALIBRE now offers a more diverse set of IT solutions and certified resources, enabling us to capitalize on synergies, expand our connections, and better serve our current and future clients. Like CALIBRE, SPEAR focuses on delivering the highest quality solutions for clients.”

“This is an exciting combination of two award-winning companies and management teams, which together will be better positioned for success in today’s middle market,” said Bob Kipps, managing director at KippsDeSanto & Co.

Terms of the deal were undisclosed.
