Alion Science and Technology has been awarded a $49.8 million contract to aid the newly established Army Futures Command in developing new capabilities and systems using revolutionary technology uncovered in academia and by tech startups.
Under the contract, Alion engineers will work with the Army Applications Labs to rapidly develop prototypes into Army capabilities.
“We’ve heard from leaders across the national security community that an entrepreneurial approach to problem solving is necessary in today’s threat environment,” said Steve Schorer, Alion president and CEO. “We couldn’t agree more, and are thrilled for the opportunity to help the Army achieve that agility and impact as part of this effort.”
The Army Futures Command aims to assess the future operating environment, emerging threats and new state-of-the-art technologies to develop new materiel solutions to meet soldiers’ evolving needs.
