Tim Patterson, senior vice president at CACI International, has been honored with a 2018 Pinnacle Award from WashingtonExec as Cybersecurity Executive of the Year.
The awards honors industry executives who lead cybersecurity practices that support federal government agencies.
Patterson, who has been with the company for more than eight years, serves as the division manager of enterprise IT and critical infrastructure protection focused on Homeland Security programs.
In a Q&A with WashingtonExec after he was nominated for the Pinnacle Awards, Patterson discussed how the spirit of collaboration has influenced his leadership philosophy.
“Collaboration is essential, particularly in the cyber and IT worlds,” he said. “The two disciplines cross over, so it’s important to understand the big picture. Collaboration can be painful, but the outcome is ten times better than going it alone. As for teaching, in order for you and your organization to be successful, your people need information and skills. They need to understand the mission, what success looks like, and how to make it happen. I’ve learned it’s important to prep your leadership team to perform at your level, so you can be ready to move up to the next level. You can’t rise to the next position unless someone else is fully trained and ready to take over where you left off.”
The 2018 Pinnacle Awards, which honor leaders and influencers in the GovCon space, were presented by WashingtonExec on Nov. 5.
Winners were named from list of 50 finalists across 13 categories.
