    SAVE THE DATE: ‘Salute to Service,’ Nov. 10

    The American Red Cross in the National Capital Region is holding its annual “Salute to Service” gala Nov. 10 at the Hilton McLean in Tysons Corner Virginia.

    The black-tie event is expected to draw more than 600 attendees, including military, government corporate and community leaders.

    This year’s event honors David Rubinstein, billionaire philanthropist and co-founder of the Carlyle Group, who will receive the Lifetime of Service Award. Retired U.S. Navy Adm. Michelle Howard will receive the Tiffany Circle Distinguished Woman Warrior Award.

    Teresa Carlson, vice president for worldwide public sector for Amazon Web Services, will accept the “Corporate Hero Award” on behalf of Amazon.

    Sean Breslin will accept the Community Partner Award on behalf of AvalonBay Communities.

    The emcee will be NBC4 achor Leon Harris.
