The Intelligence and National Security Alliance has been recognized by the American Society of Association Executives for its annual Innovators’ Showcase program.
INSA’s annual Innovators’ Showcase, conducted in partnership with the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, gives academia and the private sector an opportunity to present independent research and development initiatives to scientists, technologists and engineers from intelligence and defense agencies. INSA’s Technology and Innovation Council, chaired by Kevin Kelly of LGS Innovations, selects presenters based on responses to its call for abstracts on priority topics of interest to the intelligence community, INSA said.
ASEA presented INSA with a “Power of A” Silver Award, placing it among the 34 associations nationwide that received a Silver Award in 2018. ASEA’s Power of A program aims to honor organizations that distinguish themselves with innovative, effective and broad-reaching programs and activities.
INSA’s vice president for policy, Larry Hanauer, said that the alliance is honored to be recognized by an organization that champions best practices that help associations maximize impact in their respective communities.
“The Showcase exemplifies the type of public-private partnerships at the heart of INSA’s mission,” Hanauer said. “I am confident this recognition will help INSA enhance future Showcases’ contributions to national security.”
Government attendance and abstract submissions have reached new highs in recent years, under the leadership of Ronda Schrenk, a National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency officer who is INSA’s senior fellow for public-private partnerships, INSA said. Hanauer thanked Schrenk, Kelly and Mary Majoros, the vice chair of INSA’s Technology and Innovation Council, for their roles in making the Innovation Showcase a success.
“As a membership organization, everything INSA does is a team effort,” Hanauer said. “They deserve a big share of the credit for this recognition.”
INSA’s ninth Innovators’ Showcase will take place in May 2019, and its call for abstracts and topics of interest will be announced in early 2019.
