Former U.S. CIO Vivek Kundra Joins Sprinklr

Customer experience management company Sprinklr has added former U.S. Chief Information Officer and Salesforce executive Vivek Kundra as its new chief operating officer.

As the first CIO for the U.S. government under President Barack Obama, Kundra managed $80 billion in annual technology spending and saved $3 billion in taxpayer dollars, while moving the government to the cloud, strengthening the security of U.S. systems, and improving transparency and participation in U.S. technology policy, Sprinklr said. That track record of leadership and operational excellence made Kundra a welcome addition to Sprinklr’s mission to help enterprise brands create more human experiences at scale across social and digital channels, according to the company.

Kundra said he’d been fortunate to learn from leaders, both within government and the private sector, who sought to build enduring relationships that create value for all their constituents.

“The social revolution has created an unprecedented disruption for these organizations, but when they overcome it, the results are transformational — for them, and for their customers,” Kundra said. “I couldn’t be more excited to bring what I’ve learned to the only company that was built from the ground up to solve this problem, and to do so at massive, global scale.”

After leaving government, Kundra led Salesforce’s growth and go-to-market strategies for key global verticals such as financial services, health care, retail, auto, communications and the public sector.

Sprinklr, which was valued two years ago at more than $1.8 billion, recently expanded its focus from social media to customer experience management, with an expanded platform powered by new AI capabilities and with clouds for each major customer-facing department — marketing, advertising, research, commerce, care and social, the company said.
