Virsec’s Defense Against Spectre, Meltdown Cyberattacks Recognized As ‘Hot Product’ For 2018

    Atiq Raza, CEO of Virsec

Virsec‘s solution to processor-based exploits like Spectre and Meltdown has been named to a list of 20 “Hot New Security Products Announced at RSA 2018” by CRN, a source of IT news and analysis.

Virsec showed off an extension of its Trusted Execution cybersecurity product that addresses processor-level vulnerabilities at the RSA 2018 Conference, which took place from April 16-20 in San Francisco.

The Spectre and Meltdown vulnerabilities, which were discovered in early 2018, exploit security gaps in the world’s most widely used processors from Intel, AMD and ARM. Virsec’s solution detects and protects against microcode attacks such as Spectre and Meltdown, without requiring changes to application code, operating system patches, or microcode updates, and without significantly degrading processor speed, the company said.

Virsec CEO Atiq Raza said the company was deeply honored to be recognized on CRN’s “Hot Products” list.

“We also thank the many researchers involved in the discovery of Spectre and Meltdown, whose work and input have been invaluable both to security-minded organizations everywhere, and to Virsec in containing these vulnerabilities,” Raza said. “Up to this point, the solutions offered by chip and OS vendors have required unacceptable tradeoffs, which have left most customers deeply worried.”
