AMERICAN SYSTEMS has been awarded a $68.6 million contract to implement an emergency mass notification system for the U.S. Air Force.

Under the 5-year contract, AMERICAN SYSTEMS will implement a cloud-based enterprise emergency notification system solution using the BlackBerry AtHoc Alert system on an Amazon Web Services cloud platform.

The notification system will “increase situational awareness for airmen and their families, regardless of their physical location, to enable protective measures when tragic events or emergencies occur,” the company said.

The new system aims to close gaps in the notification process to personnel and their families, including on- and off-duty notification as on- and off-installation notifications.

The company will provide reliable, secure and round-the-clock notifications, using via several delivery systems, including email, desktop alerts, text messages, telephone alerts, outdoor speaker system alerts at Air Force installations, and through applications on smart devices, AMERICAN SYSTEMS said.
