Peraton has hired a new chief communications officer, naming Northrop Grumman veteran Matt McQueen to the position.

McQueen, who brings 18 years’ communications and public affairs experience, will be responsible for Peraton’s communications strategy and execution. That includes media relations, employee communications, branding and executive communications, the company said.

The government IT services company, which was part of Harris Corp. before it was acquired by Veritas in April and rebranded as Peraton, is pleased to have McQueen on board, said CEO Stu Shea.

“With Peraton’s fresh brand identity, Matt will help Peraton communicate the company’s differentiators in the key markets we serve: cyber, space, and intelligence,” Shea said in a statement. “He deeply understands the dynamics of our industry and customers, and is a proven leader in driving strategic communications and advocacy campaigns on a global scale.”

McQueen brings extensive experience in integrated communications, public policy and technology market development, according to Peraton. He was recently tasked with communications for Northrop Grumman’s Cyber and Intelligence Mission Solutions and Space ISR Systems divisions, and had enterprise responsibilities for the company’s cyber branding efforts.

Earlier in his career, McQueen held senior roles in Northrop Grumman’s strategic communications, government relations, strategic planning and business development functions.

McQueen, a George Washington University and College of Wooster alum, serves on the board of directors for several nonprofits, including the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce, Lead Virginia and George Mason University Honors College. He currently chairs the WashingtonExec MARCOM Council.
