SAP National Security Services, Inc. plans to add 95 new jobs and invest $6 million to expand its IT and cybersecurity operations in Fairfax County, Virginia.

The new expansion was subject to competition between Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania, and SAP said Virginia’s location and SAP’s existing presence there made it a strong contender.

“We are pleased to expand our operations in Fairfax County’s thriving technology corridor,” said SAP NS2 President and CEO Mark Testoni. “This area offers us access to a talented tech workforce with close proximity to our customers and business partners.”

SAP NS2 has more than 150 employees in Herndon, Virginia, and has had a presence in Fairfax County since 2007, the company said.

The Fairfax County Economic Development Authority worked with the Virginia Economic Development Partnership to bring SAP’s expansion to Virginia. VEDP will support SAP through its state-funded Virginia Jobs Investment Program, which provides advice and funding to support employee training for companies creating new jobs or experiencing technological change. FCEDA offers site location assistance, business development assistance, and connections with county and state government agencies, to help companies locate and expand in Fairfax County.

“Fairfax County is a perfect location for a company like SAP NS2 that uses a big data platform for national security work,” FCEDA President Gerald Gordon said. “We have the right kind of workforce and proximity to customers in both the public and private sectors.”
