Winners of the annual GovCon Awards were announced Nov. 1. Among the night’s winners was CALIBRE President and CEO Joe Martore, who took home the award for Executive of the Year in the $75 million-$300 million category.

This honor is bestowed upon a government contracting executive in the greater Washington area for outstanding contributions to his or her company, the community and the government contracting industry during the past year.

Martore joined CALIBRE in 2004 as part of its acquisition of Strategic Management Initiatives, Inc., which he co-founded. He has served as CALIBRE’s president, CEO and board member since 2010, and sets and oversees the company’s strategic direction, establishes corporate policies and manages the overall business and financial performance.

Yesterday’s award wasn’t the first for Martore. He was named Greater Washington Government Contractor Executive of the Year ($75 million – $300 million category) in 2013.

Martore holds a master’s degree in civil engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and an MBA from the George Washington University
