Raytheon Intelligence Information and Services has hired former CSRA executive John DeSimone as vice president of cybersecurity and special missions.

DeSimone will lead a team of more 1,700 employees, helping customers shore up cyber defenses and withstand advanced persistent threats from sophisticated attackers, according to the company.

“John joins the IIS leadership team with a strong business background in cybersecurity in both the commercial and public sectors,” said Raytheon IIS President Dave Wajsgras. “His experience, track record and entrepreneurial style will drive real value for our customers and shareholders.”

DeSimone recently worked as executive vice president and general manager for enterprise services at CSRA, where cybersecurity was one of seven business units that he managed. Before his time at CSRA, DeSimone was president and general manager at CSC Enterprise Services, where he managed a $3.3 billion portfolio and 10,000 employees. He has also held high-level positions at Motorola, Northrop Grumman and IBM.
