From her cybersecurity stories and executive profiles to writing autographs as Sally Ride at the STEM Symposium, WashingtonExec’s new senior reporter Ariel Robinson has hit the ground running.

“Ariel brings a fresh perspective and some great experience to the WashingtonExec team,” Founder and CEO JD Kathuria said. “She has a knack for taking complex topics and making them interesting and easy to understand. We’re grateful to have her on board.”

Prior to joining WashingtonExec, Robinson was a freelance writer and communications consultant. She’s covered everything from Special Operations Forces procurement to directed energy weapons for National Defense Magazine, women in cybersecurity for the Security Ledger and the internet of things in Nextgov. As a consultant, Robinson wrote white papers and other communications materials for a cyber threat intelligence firm, multiple nonprofits and a business-to-business marketing firm.

“Ariel is one is the most insightful and experienced marketing and communications executives I have had the opportunity to interface with,” said Jeff Snyder, chair of WashingtonExec’s Cyber Council, and vice president of cyber programs at Raytheon. “She is a very quick study, regardless of the subject matter, very engaged with the stakeholder contributors, and delivers a compelling product that sells.”

Robinson was dressed as astronaut Sally Ryde at this year’s STEM Symposium

“Our goal is to generate more engaging content on a more regular basis,” Kathuria said. Robinson is WashingtonExec’s first full-time writer. Page views, engagements and the average time spent on a page have jumped. “We’re already seeing the difference,” Kathuria added.

For Robinson, the job is a perfect fit.

“I get paid to talk to smart people and write about it,” she said. “The thought leadership in the WashingtonExec community is fantastic; I learn something new at every event and with every conversation I have. The last few months have been great, and I’m looking forward to many more.”
