Pragmatics Inc. Vice Chair/Chief Financial Officer and The Kimmy Foundation President Kimmy Duong announced Feb. 23 that she has has pledged $2 million to fund scholarships at the University of Maryland to support engineering and business students.
“No other country in the world can give immigrants the opportunities that this country can,” Duong said. “It is important to show our appreciation. I feel that everything I have today, I owe to the opportunities I received in the USA and it is important for me to give back. My whole family believes the same. We are proud to contribute to advances in technology as well as education.”
Duong emigrated from Vietnam to the U.S. on April 29, 1975, just before the fall of Saigon. She often reflects on the generosity, love and kindness that she has received in America.
