Science Applications International Corp. announced Dec. 19 the appointment of Karen Wheeler as chief human resources officer, effective Feb. 4, 2017. She will succeed Kimberly Admire, who has been the company’s chief human resources officer since 2014.

“I greatly appreciate Kim’s domain expertise and commitment to SAIC in maturing our HR disciplines, including our inclusion and diversity program,” SAIC CEO Tony Moraco said. “We are grateful for her contributions and wish Kim all the best in her future endeavors. Karen brings more than 20 years of SAIC experience and extensive corporate knowledge, which will be instrumental as SAIC continues to evolve. We are excited to welcome Karen to our executive leadership team.”

As a member of SAIC’s executive team, Wheeler will lead the development and implementation of key employee-related initiatives, including organizational development, talent management, recruiting, retention and employee engagement.

Wheeler has been a senior vice president and SAIC’s chief procurement officer since 2013. She earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Radford University and a juris doctorate from The Catholic University of America. Wheeler was admitted to the Maryland Bar in 2001 and also has a Corporate Counsel Designation from the Virginia Bar.
