Textbooks Africa is a nonprofit organization that bridges education and environment gaps by collecting used books, computers and school supplies to send to students in Africa. The founder of Textbooks Africa, an immigrant from Liberia, noticed books and school supplies being thrown out at her son’s school. She began to collect those books and supplies to send to Africa, and thus Textbooks Africa was founded.

Textbooks Africa is always looking for donations and corporate sponsors to help with the shipping cost to Africa. The founder emphasizes the K-12 STEM Symposium shows that all children need to be prepared for the challenges of the 21st century. The organization has formed partnerships with schools and libraries that donate books, but its greatest challenge is still the shipping cost.

The Annual K-12 STEM Symposium will be held March 25, 2017 in Herndon, Virginia. The largest K-12 STEM Symposium in the National Capital Region is a free, all-day forum that equally engages local parents, educators and children. Sign up by visiting www.stemsymposium.com. Sponsorships are still available.
